Barbara Jones
Barbara Jones had a steady stream of reggae singles in the '70s and broke out into stardom in the '80s with her pulsing cover of Randy VanWarmer's sniffling soft rock downer "Just When I Needed You Most." This collection covers her career from the mid- '70s through the mid- '80s and although it leans a little heavier on her latter day pop success, it manages to fit a good number of her earlier reggae sides into its hefty 23 tracks. In addition to the title track, Jones lends her light, breezy delivery to a wide variety of covers here including "Angel of the Morning," "(You Were) Always on My Mind," "My Boy Lollipop," and "Will You Love Me Tomorrow." Among the highlights of her '70s tracks are a pair of Alton Ellis penned songs, "Why Birds Fly" and "Ooh Wee Baby (Baby I Love You)." ~ Wade Kergan Read more on Last.fm.
